Atommash, the Volgodonsk branch of Russia's AEM-Technology, has successfully completed hydraulic testing of the reactor head for unit 1 of the nuclear power plant under construction in Ostrovets, Belarus.
 
The operation tested the strength and density of the base metal and the welded joints of the reactor lid, which has an expected service period of 60 years. The first unit is scheduled for commissioning in 2018, with a second unit to follow in 2020.
